Title: Publisher Collections Post by: Calandale on July 20, 2014, 09:12:08 am It's one thing to collect a whole series of games you like, and
something else entirely to collect most or all of the output of a publisher. Certainly, there are insane folk who go for every GDW, SPI, or AH game, but though my collections of these companies are large, they are nowhere near complete. Here are some companies that are almost insta-buys for me: Victory Games (wargames only - not interested in the Dr. Ruth Game of Good Sex) Azure Wish Edition - this is the only real complete collection I've got. Missing if I see it for a good price. Yaquinto Games - dunno how this happened, but I've been scooping their stuff up for a while. Even to the point of buying a copy of Wings although I had the Excalibur reprint. Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: sparty on July 20, 2014, 09:16:11 am I'm getting dangerously close to owning just about everything from GMT published after 2000. Not really a goal or anything, it's just happened that way. Victory Games is one I'd love to own all their historical stuff. I think I own about half of those right now, but again ... to me it's more game driven than publisher driven.
Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: Calandale on July 20, 2014, 09:17:44 am ... to me it's more game driven than publisher driven. Yeah. I was just interested when I thought about all the Yaquinto stuff I have. Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: sparty on July 20, 2014, 09:21:21 am ... to me it's more game driven than publisher driven. Yeah. I was just interested when I thought about all the Yaquinto stuff I have. If someone posted "Yaquinto Game Lot" I'd be more interested in that than say someone saying "WEG Game Lot" for a variety of reasons. So I think setting for the potential purchase matters as well. Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: Sluggonics on July 20, 2014, 09:33:50 am Azure Wish Edition - this is the only real complete collection I've got. Missing one title, but I'd pick it up if I see it for a good price. Speaking of which, when are we getting video coverage of (http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic76240_md.jpg) Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: kira1y on July 20, 2014, 09:48:32 am I have every title that The Gamers has produced.
Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: usrlocal on July 20, 2014, 09:51:49 am I have every title that The Gamers has produced. Wow. Including the kinda hard-to-find early TCS titles? Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: Schwerpunkt on July 20, 2014, 10:12:43 am Sounds like a rich man's game to me. I have at times started to buy everything in a particular series as they are published but then realise that the output rate exceeds my game budget. :-\

That's two titles I'm missing. Probably won't do that one. Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: capt_s on July 20, 2014, 10:39:38 am Not even close!
Sure, I have complete game series, but not all the games from one publisher. Not even the small ones off the top of my head. Egads! Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: usrlocal on July 20, 2014, 10:42:05 am Hmmmm....aside from my complete GMT collection I'm drawing a blank. Oh wait! I almost forgot about my complete SPI collection that's back behind the shed.

Including the kinda hard-to-find early TCS titles? Yep. Impressive. What about different editions? Did you start early on? It took me a few years before I was aware of the company at all. Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: kira1y on July 20, 2014, 11:29:22 am Impressive. What about different editions? Did you start early on? It took me a few years before I was aware of the company at all. I don't have earlier editions of some of the games as I was a bit of a late starter when getting into some of the series. The Gamers' stuff is the one instance where I actually went out and hunted for some of the older games just so that I could complete the collection. I can't really tell you why I was driven to do such a thing but my intention is to eventually play them all... Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: capt_s on July 20, 2014, 11:34:05 am I had not heard of The Gamers until relatively late in their existence. Must have been the mid 00s when I first came across the CWBS.
I suppose their games were just not around the stores I frequented in the 90s. :( Title: Re: Publisher Collections Post by: Calandale on July 20, 2014, 11:50:52 am I got into CWB in the mid 90's with 2nd edition Thunder.
It and NBS were definite buys. Played Afrika with a buddy too, but it didn't do much for me compared to Desert Fox - though it was a little simpler. The OCS stuff just didn't interest me then - except maybe DAK, but I held off. I was poor.
