I had to shrink my avatar to 64x64 to get the site to take it. That seems kind of small especially when I see the other avatars. I must be doing something wrong.

You can link to an avatar as opposed to uploading one. That will allow you have something bigger than the 64x64 size.

It should hold 120x120. The way I had it set, it shouldn't have been restricting them by size at all,
just resizing online - but I've updated the configs to be in alignment.

I tried 128x128, then 96x96, and finally 64x64 before I stopped getting error messages.

You don't need that. You can host it somewhere else.

I'm really not sure why it's not allowing larger uploads. May be a
host specific restriction that my panel implies doesn't exist.
