I thought Richard Borg was some sort of joke about Richard Berg's prolific output.

I thought they were the same person when I first got into the hobby.

It's unusual that their names are so similar and they're both pretty prolific designers - Berg has obviously designed more games, but Borg has created this ubiquitous system.  It's not like one was some obscure guy who designed a couple games back in the 70's or something - they're both well-known, with nearly identical names.

Steve Jackson of Steve Jackson Games vs. Steve Jackson from the UK screwed me over for a long time.

It doesn't help that Berg seems to be deeply involved with BROGFest.

I wondered if he'd just ripped off Richard Berg's name.

I thought it was a typo the first time I came across it.
