After seeing Mark Herman's Churchill demo, I'm worried I'm sold on this one.
No point in preordering though, I guess.

This one was an instant P500 for me.  I think I preordered it right after I heard about it.  The concept was just too good to ignore and I like what I'm seeing with these war topic games that address non-traditional ways of engaging in the history surrounding wars.  To me, its ripe for exploration so I'm thrilled to see Mark Herman put his back into this thing to get it out to us.  I wonder how it compares with the wargames he's put together in his work because it seems like it'd be a closer fit than counter pushing potentially.

The fact that it's made the cut, and will probably not sell out before the next sale,
means I can likely get it a little cheaper. I hope.

I'm still a little meh with WWII at the moment, so I'm the same way... If GMT has the usual Fall sale with 50% discount game per delivered pre-order, I might just snag it.

Churchill-Absolutely ZERO interest there. Trick taking is a game mechanic. Sorry but I pretty much only play wargames these days. I used to play cards a lot but not in several years except for Poker. The topic is a no go for me to.   Shocked

Yeah, it's not a wargame proper. But, I'm really intrigued by the nature of the design.

I don't think its a wargame at all. Wait can I say that here? Do I want to start that here? No! You guys can call it whatever you like! Sorry!

I'm getting very MEH with WWII truth be told.

Every system sort of blends into the other.  Every scale, system, topic, and designer you want probably has a title out there just waiting.  It's a bit tiresome.

That said, I'm VERY open for new approaches to building GAMES are WW2 that don't necessarily replicate well worn material.

This isn't even a wargame fora. Yeah, it started out with that view,
but the idea of the categorization and what it might mean for other
categories made it senseless to me. Basically, the choice was broad
category of topic (and I think Churchill is military enough to qualify)
or time period (my preferred method of sorting games).

Since I figured that there's probably more difference between Power Grid players
and WiF players than there is between wargamers and eurogamers across periods,
it seemed a better division for others.

On the bright side, it finesses the issue of whether something fits fairly well.
The edge cases probably are no worse than the edge cases of games straddling
periods.

I suspect this one will be around for the Fall Sale.  Well, not this year - it's not on the production calendar for 2014.  So if it releases sometime in the spring, I can't imagine it selling out by next Fall, even with Mark Herman's name on it.

LOL!   Grin

Interesting/different mechanics appeal to me, so I am keeping an eye on this Churchill game. I am interested in hearing what the scuttlebutt reveals over the next few months.
