Are there any games that simulate an economic conflict in the same way that a wargame will simulate a military conflict? Maybe a game about the dot-com stock market bubble or corporate takeovers to build monopolies or something similar. I'm looking for a game informed by actual events that strives for some level of historic accuracy.

I'm asking because as a gamer I'm interested in simulations, but military history is less engaging for me than something economic.

I don't know of anything that's as historically grounded as most wargames are.
But, some of the richer games thread might barely make this level.

Like Ecklund's Lords games, and Silverton.

At a very very abstract level (and what ELSE is EotMA?), it's as much an economic
game as it is just about anything I guess.

This is a great question though. I'd love to have more historical simulation-type boardgames that focussed on things other than military battles. Politics, economics, etc. Where are these games?

The ones I mentioned put you in a generic type of position too. I guess 18xx and winsome
designs kinda link to historical companies at least.  Well, LotSM gives you historical
people as your main character too.

But there's durned little of that nature hanging around.

I never played Yaquinto's Battleline's 'Machiavelli'. Would that count?

Definitely not. That's too much a military game. More so than dip.
