Ive bought both but liked the old catalog of GHQ better
of course this was decades ago, before computer based buying
I imagine there is a much better selection nowadays for small lead figures and models

Well, except nothing is lead anymore.
I haven't bought anything micro-armor-ish in a long time myself. I'd like to get into 6mm sci-fi someday, maybe Dropzone Commander (Dropship Commander?) or modern, like Hind Commander. I've heard really good things about Hind Commander.

Mostly tin-based alloys, some pewter.
And I need to correct myself. Did some searching and found some manufacturers are using lead again, usually as part of a lead-tin alloy, to keep prices down. Tin has gotten pretty expensive.

thanks for the answers. very interesting I've melted lead before and know the dangers of breathing in those toxic fumes I can easily imagine the makers of die cast wargame pieces wanting to avoid lead altogether but there was a time, long ago, when many kids would make their own army dudes from lead

Fwiw - GHQ started doing this in the late 80's -as I was buying a lot of 1:2400 WWII ships then - I decided that it was easier to store/display 1:2400 ships (not to mention that at the time there was a wider variety of USN ships) than 1:700 waterline models. Question for you, though Lucky Dice Rolls - is this limited to a particular subject (ships, armour, and I guess period -since I know GHQ also has a line of tall ships)? In my own little metal world eventually I think I am wanting to get into more 6mm material as you can find a range of it across eras ( from Greece/Rome through to the current day - with 6mm essentially being 1:285th scale).

well its not really limited to any kind of models, no. I guess I was just wondering about how you guys bought your pieces. you see, I am kinda stuck in the eighties I have hundreds of GHQ and C-in-C modern armored vehicles from the 80's, when I had excess money to buy toys, and I have not bought ANY wargame supplies since then but in answer to your question, I was most interested in the armored vehicles

Ah right- no worries - although unfortunately for contributing to this - I only actually have any GHQ miniatures (some WWII micro-armour and several modern sets). One day I have some sort of dream of setting up the perfect table - really get into doing the terrain and designing some towns and roadways; which would even be better if I could make this sort of period-modifiable. I ought to grab a set of C in C anythings - I got some of their ships, but much prefer the GHQ material (although I think most of my ships were old when I got them so for all I know things have changed some). C in C anythings -meaning some of their armour -there is a shop in town where they seem to have too wide of a selection of the things. Only problem I have (and it is a slightly major one...) -I had to leave all of my paints back in the US ... so I have to rebuild that some day (talk about a pain... starting from nothing again ... )
