Everything's pretty much 'ok'.

Sounds military to me.

I'm a fanboi of X-Wing miniatures. Nice looking toys, rules don't suck.

I'm a fan of space combat games in general. Except Star Trek Attack Wing. Because those models look bad, they can't get the scale right, and those things matter way too much to me.

I demo'd it a few times at the Fantasy Flight booth at Gen Con.  Fantasy Flight always has great custom tables for their games at Gen Con - for X-Wing, they had built a table surface that modeled that of the Death Star, which was pretty cool.  The table is kind a big addition to the theme for me - if you're playing at home, unless you use some sort of black table covering to try and make it look like space, you're just moving your ships around on a wooden table, which kind of kills the ambience for me.  So that's one reason I never invested in the models, which are already expensive - but I'd have to go all out and rig up a special table, and then who knows where my OCD would take me.  Another reason I don't collect minis in general - the time to paint them is prohibitive to me, and my perfectionism wouldn't let me accept sub-par painting or terrain.  It would just be a snowball effect of adding more stuff to the collection process.  I've been able to manage my board wargame accessorizing to some degree, and that's enough for me to contend with!  Tongue
