I'm in favor of everything being open, but I understand that some people would rather post
things that others cannot see. I want to get a feel for the views on this. Comments would
help too.

Another possibility is to form little groups that have access to their own sections.
If things get really contentious here somehow, that's an option we can keep open.

Doesn't seem to be enough interest to warrant extra work.

I could see an argument for making a chat-type area (fuch all?) unreadable to guests so the robots can't index it, but I think that things should be generally visible to all users and guests.

On other forums, I've seen hidden areas for development, moderation (and quarantine), and cliques.  I'm not sure that any of those are justified here (and actively dislike the self-selected groups).

The one advantage for little groups is that they can actually avoid spying.

But, they could also form their own little hidden place for that, I guess.

I like the idea of having a place where the bots can't get to me, but I've changed enough of my profile information that I'm not sure it really matters.

I’m torn—but open. Really, I think. There’s something very disingenuous about it. I could see not indexing chit chat.

Aside from spamming concerns, I don't see much of a need for members only sections.
