Who here has played this one? I have it, and I actually enjoy it for the changes it made to combat, like no CRT. Instead your units strength determines how many dice you get to roll, and infantry hits on a 5-6, with motorized hitting on only a 6. The bucket of dice mechanic has been done before, but I like it here. It's just rolling to see how many hits you get compared to the defending unit, but I liked it in Age of Mythology, and I like it here as well. The only difference being that in Age of Mythology the units you fight with have a rock, paper, scissors style advantage over other units.
I also like that there is no automatic ZOC for units. Infantry has no ZOC iirc, but the motorized units do, so if you have a scattering of infantry, your motorized can just move through unimpeded and wreak havoc. My only real negatives seem to be that the map is pixelated, and while not badly laid out, the colors don't work for me so much. I also think I would have prefered a paper map vs. the thicker stock glossy look. It has ugly creases in it, and without plexi, it is a pain to lay flat. Also, I'm not sure that I like the fact that I have to stop to engage coastal defense units automatically, when the can't attack, and have no defense. I know they are there to delay my movement inward after landing, but they don't even attack back? Not even a gun battery, or gunner nests? Nothing?
