Title: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: LuckyDiceRolls on July 20, 2014, 02:42:41 pm for me it has always been beethoven's ninth symphony
nothing else compares except perhaps wagner's ride of the valkyrie (sp? what sets the stage for YOUR most epic wargame battles (http://www.paulamontessketchbook.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/ludwig-van-beethoven.jpg) Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: kira1y on July 20, 2014, 03:00:44 pm My buddy and I used to have The Clash - Combat Rock playing every Tuesday night during our ASL and Go sessions...
Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: Calandale on July 20, 2014, 03:05:12 pm I don't mind some music prior to the game, but I'm not really a fan of mixing the two directly.

A highly underrated Clash album. My favourite along with 'Sandinista!' (also underrated). Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: The Grinch on July 20, 2014, 08:53:55 pm WW2 Eastern front needs Wagner. Age of sail needs the soundtrack from Master and Commander. Napoleon calls for Beethoven.
Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: Sluggonics on July 20, 2014, 11:36:47 pm I usually have my Pandora channel set to Boccherini for background music.

Perfect for whooping Confederate *or* Nazi ass. Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: Rockhopper on July 21, 2014, 06:09:14 am Age of sail needs the soundtrack from Master and Commander. I HIGHLY recommend Musical Evenings with the Captain, Vols. I and II, and Musical evenings in the Captain's Cabin. Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: wmarrero on July 21, 2014, 04:56:31 pm Had never really given it any thought, but I supposed if I had to chose something it would be either Morzart's Requiem or 1812 Overture
Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: LuckyDiceRolls on July 21, 2014, 05:33:03 pm I like the idea of listening to the 1812 overture
also william tell overture would be appropriate thanks Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: usrlocal on July 22, 2014, 07:51:46 am Truth is, I don't listen to music while playing - I find it too distracting.
Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: LuckyDiceRolls on July 22, 2014, 05:11:06 pm who the hell is awarding us negative karma points?

Post by: Shauneroo on July 26, 2014, 04:58:07 pm My buddy and I used to have The Clash - Combat Rock playing every Tuesday night during our ASL and Go sessions... A highly underrated Clash album. My favourite along with 'Sandinista!' (also underrated). I'm a massive Clash fan, but Combat Rock fell flat for me. Apart from Straight to Hell of course, which is magnificent. Sandinista! though, is superb. Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! Post by: Shauneroo on July 26, 2014, 05:04:35 pm I find that there is a Morrissey album for every wargaming occasion.
I will also play post rock, shoegaze, black metal and psych-jangle. Basically, when I'm gaming at my place, I play the kind of music I like :-) At friends houses though, that's a different story. Some of the stuff one of my mates plays makes me want to drill out my ears. Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?! music from the era does it for me when it's anything pre-20th century. mostly instrumental or Choirs just to add some flavor. when playing solitaire it's better than the TV that's also on in the room (my girlfriend watches TV and does facebooky things at the same time) Title: Re: Best Music for Wargames?!
